Mount Laurel Basketball

THIS IS A MASS EMAIL TO ALL PREVIOUS MT LAUREL BASKETBALL PARTICIPANTS

Registration is now open!

We are happy to announce that our online registration for the winter 2019-2020 basketball season is now open.  Come to our new website at www.mtlaurelbasketball.org to sign up now.
You will be able to register multiple children at one time and pay within our site.  Payment is accepted using credit or debit cards or ACH checks. You cannot register without paying. If you must pay by cash or paper check, you can attend in-person registration which will be held in late October at the Mt Laurel Senior Center.  We will notify you once we secure the date and time.
Please pass this information along to any friends, particularly those who may have children in kindergarten and 1st grade, as the schools do not allow us to send flyers home with the kids anymore.  If anyone has contact with the PTO presidents and can insert our information into their newsletters, we would greatly appreciate it.

Register Now

Intramural and Instructional Leagues

We run leagues for boys and girls in Kindergarten to 12th grade. Instructional leagues, for children in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades, concentrate on skill development and fundamentals.   We run intramural leagues, with officiated games, standings and playoffs, for children in grades 3 to 12.

Travel Teams

Travel teams are selected for grades 4 through 8 where players compete against teams from other towns in South Jersey. Travel tryouts will be conducted from during the 1st 3 weeks of October. The tryout schedule will be posted on our website within the next week.  Players must be registered to participate in travel team tryouts.  If your child is not registered and attends a travel tryout, he or she will not be permitted to play that night so please register by October 2nd to avoid missing any tryout dates. Travel teams will cost families between $150-$250 more per player which covers travel referee fees, uniforms and additional tournaments the coach may choose for the team.
Unfortunately, the leagues in which our travel teams compete do not allow Hainesport players on our teams, as all travel leagues residency lines follow high school sending district.  Hainesport players must play for a Rancocas Valley-based team and are most likely able to play with a team based in Lumberton. Click here to register for Travel.

Challenger League

We run a league for children with special needs from Kindergarten through high school age. We will also solicit volunteer buddies for our program in late November. Click here to register for Challenger.

Fees

Fees for our program are $85 for children in Kindergarten to 2nd grade and $140 for children in grades 3 and up. The Challenger program is $25 per player.

Hainesport Residents

Due to the weekend gym usage policy enacted several years ago in Hainesport, it became necessary for the school board to charge us a fee to use the Hainesport gym on the weekends.  In order to fund this charge, we need to charge a $15.00 facilities fee to all Hainesport players.  Hainesport residents please be sure to select the correct residency field when you register or we will have to void your registration to allow you to register correctly a 2nd time.

Registration Period

Registration will remain open until October 31st.  If you elect to register after that date, your child will not be guaranteed a spot in his or her particular league. In addition, we will impose late fees of $25 per player for anyone who registers after October 31st.
Come to our website and click on the Registration icon to sign up today.

Sign up for LENAPE COACHES CLINICS as soon as possible

Coaches Matt Wolf and Rob Hummel, head Lenape boys and girls basketball coaches, and former boys’ head coach, Chuck Guittar, are running a series of 5 basketball clinics for boys and girls in grades 3 to 8 beginning this Tuesday, September 24th at Hartford School. They will address many fundamental skills that will make the kids stronger basketball players. These clinics were well attended last year and the kids came away with many skills that they could work on to improve their play.
The clinics will run on Sept 24th, Oct 1st, Oct 8th, Oct 15th and Oct 22nd.
Grades 3 to 5 will run from 6:00-7:00 each night. Grades 6 to 8 will be 7:05-8:05
This is the link to the form you can use to print and mail to coach Guittar to register your child for the clinic.  You can also sign up the night of the clinic but if it is already full, you will not be guaranteed a spot. The fee is $50 and covers all 5 nights. Any questions, please contact chuckguittar@gmail.com.
All players must bring a ball and a water bottle to the clinic.

Leadership Transition

I wanted to let you all know that I have recently taken a new job and, after serving as president for about 15 years, I need help to oversee our league.  Chris Beeler, dad of 3rd grader, Colton, has volunteered to serve as Co-President this season with me.  It will provide us the opportunity to have a smooth transition to insure we continue to provide the best program possible for your children. You will see correspondence from both Chris and I this season.
If you have any questions, please email us at info@mtlaurelbasketball.org.

    To whole it May concern,

When does Winter basketball begin? Also, What day is practice for instructional? Also, do they play games as well? If yes, is that on a different day than practice. Final question, what time is is practice held?

The schedule of what teams and leagues are playing on what nights will not be completed until December. Generally, teams will meet twice a week and usually on Saturday and one other day depending on the number of teams in each division. Our league commissioners usually try to get a December schedule out first in late November/early December, then send out the January/February/March schedule sometime later in December. Our younger grades will begin their sessions on Saturday 12/7 and you should be contacted by your coach by Wednesday 12/4. Older grades may start later than 12/7 and contacts may also be later. The start-up process of forming teams, setting schedules, and contacting players is very time consuming and we appreciate your patience in this matter.
