Update 11/30/2020 – Message from the League President

All,

I am sad to announce that we have decided to cancel the Intramural and Instructional Basketball Seasons for this year.

NJSIAA issued guidance last week that would not allow for our leagues to use multiple courts at a single facility, which effectively ruled out using XL Sports in Mount Laurel.  The issued plan can be found here: https://www.njsiaa.org/sites/default/files/documents/2020-11/return-to-play-season-2-season-3.pdf

Further to that, as you may know, our region recently transitioned from the yellow risk zone to the orange risk zone on the color coded map that has been developed and used by the NJ Department of Health to determine what actions should be taken with regards to schools in the region.  In the yellow phase, the schools are not required to close unless there are 3+ cases within the school building.  In the orange phase (our current risk zone) even a single case will close the schools.  This is the reason Harrington is closed for the week.  The schools are unwilling to risk the in-person instruction of our kids to host the basketball programs.

Finally, today, Governor Murphy announced that all youth indoor sports are to be postponed until January 2nd.  This essentially means that we cannot host anything in December, and based on what is being projected, I would be surprised if this date wasn’t further extended.

Given all of these factors, Mount Laurel Basketball has decided to cancel the Intramural and Instructional season.  We will be issuing everyone 100% refunds if you have paid your registration fee. While these will be processed this week, please allow up to three weeks for your account to be credited.

Wishing you all good health going forward,

Chris Beeler
